Mountain Plains Heritage Park

Take a trip through time on the 1-mile, marked nature trail at Mountain Plains Heritage Park on the east side of Buffalo. Walk in the paths first traveled by the pioneers of the Bozeman Trail and gaze at the beauty they saw as they approached the Bighorn Mountains.

See where the railroad rolled through the area from 1912 to 1948. Mountain Plains Heritage Park has been established for the preservation of this heritage and to help visitors become aware of the history at this crossing in the valley. If walking in the fresh Wyoming air with beautiful views isn’t enough, the habitat pond is open for fishing.
