First Day Hike
Celebrate the start of a healthy 2026 at Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site with the New Year’s Day historic walking tour through the fort.
After the hike, the new interpretive center and bookstore will be open, and refreshments will be served. This event is weather-dependent.
The Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site is partnering with the Fort Phil Kearny Bozeman Trail Association for this event.
The event begins at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, from the interpretive center. The hike will cover 1 to 2 miles around the fort with moderate terrain.
Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Participants can enter to win a 2026 Annual Day-Use Certificate and a statewide grand prize.
