The Bighorn Bluegrass Camp and the Historic Occidental Hotel and Saloon will be hosting the annual January Jam bluegrass event from Thursday, January 15, to Sunday, January 18.

This year’s jam features Joe Newberry, a guitarist, singer and songwriter known for his clawhammer banjo playing. Newberry was a frequent guest on A Prairie Home Companion. He is an International Bluegrass Music Association award-winning banjo player.

The weekend kicks off with the weekly Thursday Night Bluegrass Jam at 7 p.m. on January 15 at the Occidental Saloon.

Songwriters’ Workshops are scheduled for Friday, January 16, from 2 to 3:15 p.m. with Joe Newberry and award-winning songwriter David Stewart teaching. A banjo workshop follows from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. with Joe Newberry.

Friday night’s concert featuring Newberry is set for 7 p.m. at the Occidental Saloon. Tickets are $10 presale and $12 at the door.

Saturday’s schedule includes a Songwriters’ workshop from 10 a,m. to noon at the Occidental, followed by a banjo workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. A Kids’ Camp show will take place at 5 p.m. in the Occidental lobby.

Saturday night’s concert will feature select campers at 6:30 p.m., Wyoming Wind at 7 p.m., and Newberry at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 presale and $12 at the door.

Old time church will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 18. A Sunday Old Time Fiddle Tune Jam will conclude the event at 3 p.m.

Weekend pass ticket for both concerts and the workshops is $60.
