Pole Creek Challenge
This winter tradition returns! Come out to Pole Creek Nordic Ski Area in the Bighorn National Forest for the Pole Creek Challenge — a fun, family-friendly recreational race!
The Powder Pass Nordic Club’s 2026 Pole Creek Challenge will take place on Saturday, February 28, with a 9 a.m. start for the 20-kilometer race and 10 a.m. starts for the 5K and 10K races. These events are open for both classic and skate skiers.
The race course will be clockwise around the Inside Loop and Bull Moose trails. The 20K will be two laps of the 10K course.

In addition to the races, this event offers the Total Distance Challenge in the month of February: Ski or snowshoe the greatest total distance between February 1 and February 28 and win a special award.
The awards ceremony and door prize drawing will take place after the completion of the race.
Sign up by February 18 to get the best deal for reduced pricing. Pre-registration ends February 25. After that, participants will have to sign up for the 5K and 10K events on the morning of the race. Advanced registration is required for the 20K.
There will be a five-entrant minimum. There will be an aid station/gear stash at the halfway point, near the start/finish lines.
