This historic building, just a block of Main Street and walkable downtown, can hold up to 188 people in its meeting spaces. The 3,767-square-foot meeting space has a kitchen. A stone fireplace can be the centerpiece of the room, which can also be sectioned off for smaller groups.
Built in 1920 and known as the Beutler building, it served as a feed store, army surplus shop, and shipping company warehouse over the last century. The building has a wood floor, antique light fixtures and doors from the former Idlewild Hotel, a micro theater, and more. The elegant Hampton Inn & Suites offers not only an indoor meeting space for up to 100 people but also an outdoor patio and lawn along Clear Creek that can provide a memorable wedding experience. The outdoor patio can be configured with chairs and tables available for rental, while the creek provides a backdrop for the ceremonies. Suites located near the patio are available for brides and grooms.

One of Buffalo’s oldest businesses is the Historic Occidental Hotel & Saloon, dating back to 1880. The 18-room hotel has an outdoor space along Clear Creek that can be used in several ways. It has hosted concerts, auctions, weddings, and more, and is a great gathering place for a social function as part of a meeting schedule.

Across Main Street, Occidental owners David and Jackie Stewart have renovated an old theater building into a 4,200-square-foot venue space that holds up to 250 people. The Playhouse is a comfortable yet elegant event space capable of hosting presentations, concerts, and celebratory events.
Tables, chairs, and catering are provided through the Occidental Hotel.
The Bozeman Trail Steakhouse, one of Buffalo’s most popular restaurants, also features 2,341 square feet of meeting room space that can be figured for groups of up to 144 or 200 people. The home of weekly Kiwanis and Rotary meetings, Bozeman Trail can host receptions and other group events with food-and-bar catering available.
It is conveniently located on Hart Street, just off the interstate and not far from the major hotels.
With outdoor areas and an indoor Community Building, the Johnson County Fairgrounds can accommodate events of all kinds. Conduct your event in the place where Ernest Hemingway spent the summer of 1928, completing his first draft of A Farewell to Arms. With just 11 cabins, four tipis, and four RV spots for an occupancy of 50 guests, Spear-O-Wigwam requires full-facility rental with a two-night minimum booking. Wood chairs and tables are available, and catering is available for an additional cost.

While it’s difficult to know on a given day, Buffalo is considered a “cold, semi-arid climate.” It has dry summers from June to September. It has four seasons – sometimes all in one day. In the Bighorn Mountains, snow is possible in any month of the year. Expect some wind, and cool evenings from fall to spring, and dress in layers.
It can top 100 degrees in the summer but usually tops out in the high 90s from June to September with low humidity.
Snowfall averages 42.7 inches per year, mostly in October through April. It snows about 27 days of the winter over seven months, you just never know which days it will be.
In Buffalo, Wyoming the current sales tax of 2024 is 5 percent.
The Lodging Tax is 5 percent, of which 60 percent goes to the state of Wyoming and 40 percent stays with Johnson County’s Lodging Tax Board. It will increase to 7 percent on January 1, with the additional revenue going to Johnson County’s Lodging Tax Board.
