Hike to Pilot Knob

Join Ranger Katie on National Get Outdoors Day for a hike to the top of Pilot Knob just south of Fort Phil Kearny. The hike will make its way to the top of the hill where flag signals were used to communicate with the fort. The hike is fairly strenuous with a significant incline (about 500 feet in elevation gain) and a round trip of about 3 miles.

Hikers are asked to bring water, appropriate shoes and any other hiking necessities. Also, don’t forget the camera to capture the beautiful panoramic views of the fort, Piney Creek and Lake DeSmet.

WHEN: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8

WHERE: Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site, 528 Wagon Box Road, Banner WY 82832
