Hole in the Wall Documentary
The Hole in the Wall documentary, a film produced by Bighorn Films in coordination with Johnson County Tourism, will be shown with free admission at noon, on Saturday, July 4, as part of the county’s semiquincentennial celebration.
Observe America’s 250th birthday by viewing this film about one of Johnson County’s most scenic and historic locations.
There will be two free screenings of the documentary, with a brief introduction.

Hole in the Wall is a documentary feature film that is as textured, majestic, and inspiring as the land it explores and celebrates. Rustic stories and the legends passed down by local families revive the heirloom spirit of our old American West.
The Red Wall fortress, embraced by lush creeks and rich grasses under the Bighorn Mountain range, is a 50-mile long red sandstone formation that defined the bounds of a utopic home base for cattle rustlers and popular outlaws in the late 1800’s. Regulars included famous characters like Butch Cassidy, The Sundance Kid, and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang — lending a hand in conflicts with notable lawmen like Joe LaFors.
