Run for the Bun (Hot Dog Run)

The Johnson County YMCA is hosting the 1.776-kilometer Run for the Bun fun run on Saturday, July 4. as part of the county’s semiquicentennial celebration.

Get ready for the most patriotic race of the summer!

Run 1.776 kilometers while tackling the ultimate all-American challenge — eat one-half of a hot dog every lap before heading back out on the course. Speed, strategy, and stomach strength are all that matters as participants race for the fastest overall time.

Whether you’re here to compete, laugh, or celebrate the Fourth of July with friends and family, this event is all about fun, fitness, and festive chaos.

There will be a cornhole tournament beginning at noon, and a whipped cream eating contest at 12:30 p.m.

The event will be held at Grace Field, right across the street from the Johnson County YMCA.
